EDGE are working with a major North West bakery on their plans to radically redevelop their existing site with a new, 2,000m2 state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

The company pride themselves on their green credentials and EDGE have worked closely with senior management and the design team to create plans for ‘The Greenest Bakery in the North of England’, which combines a meticulously detailed, highly insulated building fabric designed to minimise energy demand and to capture waste heat from both ovens and chilling equipment for reuse as space heating.

Intelligent energy controls have been designed in, combining efficient and programmable smart-start settings and weather compensated heating plant.

The application of a number of low carbon technologies, including heat pumps and solar photovoltaics, will further improve the energy and carbon performance of the facility, reducing running costs by a projected 27.5%.
